The Yi people are one of China's 55 officially recognized ethnic minorities, with a population of nearly 8 million spread across Yunnan's mountains. For generations, Yi women have adorned their clothing and household items with intricate embroidery, using symbols and patterns passed down through matrilineal lines.
Each embroidered piece tells a story โ geometric patterns represent mountains and rivers, floral motifs symbolize fertility and prosperity, and animal figures ward off evil spirits. Our pieces are sourced directly from Yi artisan cooperatives in Chuxiong Prefecture, ensuring fair compensation for the makers.
Note: As each piece is individually handcrafted, colours and patterns may vary slightly. This is not a flaw โ it is the mark of authentic handmade work.
